8. Anunnaki Legends of Sumerian Civilization
Throughout history, many cultures have told stories about creation. Mesopotamian evidence from the third millennium to the end of the first millennium B.C. indicates that no single myth addressed creation issues, even though many gods were associated with natural forces. Before the creation of the world, it was assumed that gods existed. In the third millennium B.C., very little Sumerian literature survives. Before the pantheon of gods existed, there was only the Earth (Sumerian: ki) and Heavens (Sumerian: an). Even though there was no vegetation, the earth was green and water was in the ground, even though there was no sunlight or moonlight. We know more from Sumerian poems from the first centuries of the second millennium B.C.
